A funder or agency wants a standard format. Where do I start?

Open the Template Gallery on splinde.io. It lists free budget templates for the formats producers are asked for, each on its own page, so you start from the funder's or agency's own structure with the chapters and headings already in place.

Click Start using this Template on the template's page and Splinde opens with that template ready for your numbers.

1. Go to the Template Gallery and choose a template.

2. Read the template page to see what the format covers.

3. Click Start using this Template. Splinde opens with the template.

4. Enter your numbers. The chapters and headings are already there.

Each format has a walk-through of its own: AICP, SCoPE, FFA, BBC and studio account codes.

Keep your own version for the next job

After you have tailored a template to a client or funder, save it so the next job starts from there.

1. Open the menu in the budget header and choose Create Template.

2. Fill in Template Name and click Add to Template Gallery. It is saved as a Workspace Template.

3. On the next job, open Templates in the left sidebar, stay on Workspace Templates, hover the tile and click Use this template.

Your whole budget carries across: Sections, Cost Items and their fields, Variables, AddOns, conversion rates, Labels, units and any Offer Document on the budget.

Good to know

• Everyone in your workspace can use a Workspace Template, so the format you build is shared with your team. Keeping one per funder or client costs you nothing.

• A Workspace Template starts in Euro. Set Budget Currency in the Info tab of the new budget if your job is in another currency.

• Client, Start date and End date arrive blank on each new budget, so last year's client name stays behind.

• To start a format from an empty canvas, use New Template on the Templates page.
