The FFA application came back before anyone read the budget

A German cinema film funding application is read against the FFA calculation schema, which organises production costs into 11 numbered sections with every section label in German. Open the FFA Budget Template from the Splinde Template Gallery and click Start using this Template: it opens Splinde with the FFA structure ready, so the application starts from the schema instead of an empty budget.

The template page describes 11 production cost categories from pre-production through finishing, automated social contributions and currency conversion, and a build aimed at line producers and production managers working to German funding requirements.

Open the template

  1. Go to the Template Gallery and choose the FFA Budget Template, or open its page directly.

  2. Click Start using this Template. Splinde opens with the template.

  3. Fill in your production's numbers section by section.

Adapt it to your funder

Funders revise their schemas, so confirm the current section list and wording against the funder's own guidelines before you submit. Section names in Splinde are free text, so any change is a rename: the German lives in your Section and Cost Item names, which is exactly where a funder reads it, while the interface stays in English.

Cost-reducing income (Kostenmindernde Erträge in the schema) belongs in its own Section as negative Cost Items. Numeric fields accept a leading minus, so a Fee typed as a negative number subtracts from the Section total and the budget Total like any other line.

Keep your adjusted version

Open the menu in the budget header and choose Create Template. Fill Template Name* in Turn this Budget into a Template, then click Add to Template Gallery. The version sits under Workspace Templates on the Templates page, and Use this template starts the next application from it.

Good to know

  • A template starts each new budget in EUR with the client and dates left open for you to fill, which suits an FFA budget. Check Budget Currency on each new budget as you set it up.

  • In an Offer Document, a table's Show Heading Levels setting chooses how deep the headings go. It starts at Heading 3, and Sections nested deeper roll up into their parent in that table while the budget keeps them all.

  • The Template Gallery grows over time, and formats such as the BBC Budget Template sit beside the FFA one.
