Currencies, Units and Labels
Currencies, billing units and spend by category
Budget in the currencies and units the job is paid in, and see spend by category. A budget has one Budget Currency for every total, while individual lines can be priced in other currencies and converted at a live or a fixed exchange rate.
These articles are for producers on multi-currency shoots and anyone reporting on spend. They answer how to get one total across several currencies, how to lock an exchange rate agreed with a service production, how to switch the whole budget to the client's currency, how to bill a position weekly instead of daily, and how to total spend by label across every chapter.
Currencies
Yes. Give the budget one Budget Currency, set the foreign lines to their own currency on the Fee field, and every subtotal converts into the budget currency.
Set that currency to a manual rate in Conversion Currencies, type the agreed figure, and it holds until you change it yourself.
Pick the client's currency under Budget Currency in the Info tab. Splinde recalculates the whole budget and keeps every figure you typed as entered.
Units and labels
Click the unit label above the middle number on a Cost Item, search Week, and that line is priced per week while the rest of the budget stays in days.
Label the lines, then read each label's total in the Labels block of Smart Subtotals, or give the client a Group by Labels block in the Offer Document.
