Variables and References
Change one number and every line follows
Set a number once and let every line that depends on it follow. When the client cuts a shoot day or a rate changes, a Variable or an @ reference updates every field built on it, from the line up to the budget total.
These articles help producers keep day counts, rates and flat fees consistent across a large budget. They answer how to point one line at another, how to budget a day rate plus a delivery fee, how to carry Variables into next year's budget, and how to try a different rate in one scenario without touching the others.
Change one number everywhere
Put the day count in a Variable, point every dependent field at it with @, and one edit updates the whole budget.
Yes. Type @ in any numeric field to reference another line's Amount, Days, Fee or Total, or a Section total.
Put the day rate and the flat charge on two lines in the same Section, and the Section subtotal adds them together.
