A 300-line budget gets done fastest with your hands on the keyboard. Copy, cut, paste and duplicate act on whatever you have selected, and Tab, Shift+Tab and Enter move between the number fields the way a spreadsheet does.
The shortcuts
Keys | What it does |
|---|---|
⌘C or Ctrl+C | Copies the selected rows |
⌘X or Ctrl+X | Cuts the selected rows |
⌘V or Ctrl+V | Pastes after the last selected row |
⌘D or Ctrl+D | Duplicates the selected rows in place |
Tab | Moves to the next field, in the order the budget reads |
Shift+Tab | Moves to the previous field |
Enter | Moves to the next field, the same as Tab |
| Opens the reference picker. Escape closes it |
Enter while renaming a Section | Saves the name. Escape cancels the rename |
Escape in an open dialog | Closes the dialog |
Landing in a number field selects its whole contents, so typing replaces the value straight away. Tab passes over a field that already holds a reference and goes on to the next one you can type in.
A fast pass through a long budget
Click a Section header to select the whole chapter, press ⌘D to duplicate it, and rename the copy.
Click into the first Amount on the new block and type. Tab to Days, Tab to Fee, and keep going. The next line is one more Tab away.
Type
@in a field to point it at a Variable or another line, pick it, and Tab on.To move a block, select it, press ⌘X, click the row it should land after, and press ⌘V.
To clear a selection, click an empty part of the budget. To delete a selection, use the delete button on the bar at the bottom of the budget.
Good to know
The selection shortcuts work whenever your cursor is outside a text field, so click a row or an empty part of the budget first. Typing a name that contains a
cor avis always safe. While rows are selected, ⌘C copies those rows. Click an empty part of the budget first when you want to copy text from the page itself.
Hold the key down and it acts once, so one press equals one paste.
These shortcuts belong to the budget. The Offer Document editor has its own set of formatting shortcuts.
