The Problem with Spreadsheet Collaboration

Every production team knows this situation: someone opens the budget, makes changes, saves a new version. Meanwhile, someone else was working on the old version. Now there are two files, neither is complete, and someone gets to spend an hour merging them.

Or worse: the budget gets emailed as an attachment. Three people make changes to their own copies. Nobody knows which file is current.

Splinde eliminates this entirely.

How Collaboration Works in Splinde

In Splinde, your team works on the same live budget. There are no copies, no versions, no email attachments. When your line producer updates a fee in Munich while you review the total in Berlin, you both see the change instantly.

What you see in real time

• Live cursors — you can see where your team members are working in the budget. Each person has a named cursor, so you know who is editing which section.

• Instant updates — when someone changes a number, the line item total, the section total, and the budget total update on your screen within seconds.

• No conflicts — two people can work in different sections simultaneously. Splinde handles the synchronization.

How to Invite Team Members

1. Open any budget.

2. Go to the sidebar and find the Team section.

3. Click Invite (or Manage Budget Members).

4. Enter the email address of the person you want to invite.

5. Choose a role (see below).

6. Click Send Invite.

The invited person receives an email and can join your workspace immediately. If they do not have a Splinde account yet, they are guided through a quick registration.

Roles and Permissions

Splinde uses three roles to control who can do what:

• Admin — full control. Can edit the budget, invite and remove team members, manage settings. Use this for the budget owner and lead producer.

• Member — can view and edit the budget, but cannot manage team access. Use this for line producers, production managers, and key crew.

• Viewer — read-only access. Can see all numbers but cannot change anything. Use this for clients, agency contacts, or stakeholders who need visibility without edit rights.

You can change roles at any time from the member management panel.

Invitations are free during the trial

Everyone you invite during your 7-day trial gets full access at no additional cost. There is no limit on the number of team members.

Workspaces: Multiple Productions, One View

If you manage budgets for multiple production companies or clients, Splinde supports multiple workspaces. Each workspace has its own:

• Budget library

• Team members and permissions

• Custom workspace templates

• Settings and currency preferences

You switch between workspaces from the workspace menu in the top-left corner. Each workspace is fully independent — budgets, team, and templates do not overlap.
