An AddOn is a calculated uplift you drag onto a single Cost Item, with no formulas to write and nothing that can break. It adds a percentage or an overtime charge to that line, and the result rolls into the line total, the Section subtotal and the Total.
What it's for
Contributions, levies, VAT, fringes and overtime sit on top of a fee and must follow it when it changes. An AddOn carries that logic as a prepared card, so you only choose where it goes and which rate it uses.
How it works
In the sidebar, open Insert, then AddOns, and drag a card onto a Cost Item. It shows as a strip under the line; expand it to edit. Prepared cards keep their rate in a Variable, so one edit in Variables changes every line that uses it. A rate you type into a card stops following the Variable; typing @ links it again. Duplicating a Cost Item copies its AddOns.
Percentage AddOns
A percentage AddOn adds a share of the line, and of any AddOns you tick. Splinde ships these prepared: employer social contributions, an artists' social fund levy, VAT, fringes, handling, production fees, and a blank Markup where you set the rate yourself. The set keeps growing; these are examples.
Each one works in a mode. Unified applies one rate to everything ticked, added together. Individual gives each ticked item its own row and rate. Take a line of 100,000 with 25,000 of overtime. One rate of 10% on the sum of 125,000 adds 12,500. With a separate rate for each, 10% gives 10,000 on the line and 2,500 on the overtime, and you can move the overtime row alone. The two modes keep separate settings, so a rate typed in one does not appear in the other.
Several AddOns on one line each take the same starting amount and never stack. To apply one on top of another, tick that other AddOn in its selection menu. Order changes the look, never the result.
Overtime AddOn
The Overtime AddOn charges hours beyond the standard day. You set the standard day, add hour brackets in whole hours up to 18, and give each a percentage.
Take Amount 2, 3 days, Fee 100, an 8-hour day and a bracket to 10 hours at 50%. The hourly rate is 200 divided by 8, so 25. Each day adds 2 hours at 25 plus 50%, which is 75, and 225 over three days. The line moves from 600 to 825.
Overtime has its own modes, Simple and Individual, separate from the percentage modes above. Simple assumes every day runs to the top of every bracket. Individual splits the days into blocks, so only long days pay. On a Production Cost Item, Overtime covers Prep, Shoot and Wrap together.
Good to know
An AddOn belongs to one Cost Item, which lets a duplicated line carry its fringes. For a whole chapter, point a line outside it at the chapter's total with @. See Can I put an uplift on a whole chapter instead of every line?.
For a levy that is not prepared, create a percentage Variable named after it, drag Markup onto your lines and link the rate to it.
The AddOns list shows every prepared card, so pick the ones for your market.
