Variables, references, AddOns and subtotals
The parts of Splinde that do the arithmetic. Variables hold a number you reuse across a budget, References link one field to another with @, AddOns add percentage uplifts or overtime to a line, and Smart Subtotals and Labels roll spend up across the whole budget.
A Variable is a named value you set once and reuse across a budget, so updating one number updates every line built on it.
A Reference is a live link from one numeric field to a Variable, Cost Item or Section, typed with @, so the field always follows its target.
An AddOn is a ready-made uplift you drag onto a Cost Item, either a percentage on top of the line or an overtime charge, with no formulas to write.
Smart Subtotals is a sub-tab that rolls the whole budget up by AddOn, by Label and by Currency, cutting across the Section tree.
A Label is a workspace-wide colour tag on a Cost Item that tracks spend by category instead of by Section.
