What is a Workspace?

A Workspace is your company's home inside Splinde: one shared space that holds your team, your Projects and Budgets, and the settings everyone in that company works from, like Units and Labels. It exists so one company's people and numbers stay together and separate from every other company using Splinde.

What it's for

A Workspace groups three things under one roof: the people on your team, the work they do (Projects and Budgets), and the shared setup that keeps every budget consistent, such as which Units are available and which Labels exist. Anything created inside a Workspace, from a Budget Template to a Label, is shared by everyone who belongs to it.

How it works

A Workspace is created once, during onboarding: you set a Workspace Name, an optional logo, and your Company Name, and can invite your first teammates in the same step. People join a Workspace only by invitation, accepted either right after signing in or later from Settings → Your Workspaces. An invitation counts as an occupied seat from the moment it's sent, whether or not it has been accepted yet.

Inside a Workspace, there are two roles: Editor and Admin. Admins manage the team, invitations and workspace-wide settings; Editors work inside the Projects and Budgets they belong to. A Workspace also owns its own Workspace Templates, separate from the Public Templates every Workspace can see, and its own catalog of enabled Units and Labels, set from Settings → Budgets.

You can belong to more than one Workspace if other companies invite you, and switch between them anytime from the workspace switcher at the top of the left sidebar. Whichever Workspace you're in when you sign out is the one you land in next time.

How it fits with the rest of Splinde

Everything else in Splinde nests inside a Workspace. Projects group Budgets, and a Budget is created inside a Workspace and, in the normal flow, filed under a Project too. Workspace-level settings like Units and Labels apply across every Budget in that Workspace, so a Cost Item's unit list or a budget's available Labels come from the Workspace it lives in.

Good to know

Your Workspace Name and logo are set once, during onboarding, and there's no control in the app to change them yourself. Creating a second Workspace from your own login isn't something you can do on your own either; both are covered in rename a Workspace.
