My budget changed after I wrote the offer. Do I rebuild the document?

A rate moves the night before the offer goes out, and the document has to carry the figure the client will be held to. In Splinde the tables you drag in from Budget Blocks are live views of the budget, so the offer is already correct when you open it. You change the budget once and the document follows.

What follows the budget

Every block under Budget Blocks reads the budget directly: Cost Overview, Cost Details, Scenario Comparison, Group by Labels and Classic Budget. Change a quantity, a rate, a unit, an AddOn or a currency, and every table that contains that line follows, along with each Section subtotal and the project total above it. The numbering follows too, and the tables update on their own.

The settings you chose hold as the budget grows. If Show Cost Items is off, or Show Heading Levels is set to Heading 2, the table keeps that shape.

Rows join and leave by themselves. With Hide unused Sections on in a Cost Overview, a Section appears the moment its first Cost Item gets a value, and the remaining rows renumber to stay consecutive.

What stays as you wrote it

Your own text is yours: headlines, paragraphs, images, and anything in the header and footer stay exactly as typed. That suits cover wording and terms. Put every figure in a table rather than in a sentence, and the number the client reads is always the number in the budget.

Before it goes out

  1. Open the document pane and scroll to the table that depends on your change.

  2. Click Download PDF and read the file once, as you would any final version.

Good to know

  • Rows inside a budget table are read-only in the document by design, so every figure traces back to one place: the budget.

  • On a Classic Budget, hover under a Section heading to reach Add Text, which adds a subtitle line of your own under that Section.

  • Each scenario has its own Offer Document that reads that scenario's numbers. Switch to another scenario column and you are looking at that scenario's document.

  • Amounts entered in another currency appear converted in the offer, line by line and in every total above them.
