How does Splinde stop two people overwriting the same line at once?

Splinde makes sure no two people edit the same thing at the same moment. When you click into a field, it is yours while you work in it, and every colleague in the budget can see that and works on other lines.

That is what lets a whole team price one budget together with every number staying where its author put it.

What you see

Each person in the budget has a colour and an avatar. The field you are working in is outlined in your colour with your avatar beside it. When a colleague is in a field, you see their colour and their avatar there instead, so you always know who is working where.

Hovering an avatar in the header of the budget editor shows the person's name.

Why it works for a team

Think of the field as a seat at a shared desk. While your colleague is in it, it is theirs, and their edit is safe from anything you type elsewhere. You carry on in another field, and when they move on, the field is open to you.

That makes it natural to split a budget between you: one person on crew, one on equipment, one on the Offer Document. Each of you works in your own spot and the numbers come together in one budget.

In the Offer Document

The same promise holds in the document, sized to the content:

A paragraph is held for one person at a time.
A table, or a Classic Budget block, is held as a whole block by the person working in it, so the page a client reads stays consistent.
A Section subtitle is held as a whole too.

While one colleague works on an intro paragraph, another can work on a table beside it.

Good to know

The outline marks the field a colleague is in. The other fields on the same line stay open to you.
Your colleagues' changes appear in your budget as they work, in every Scenario column, so the numbers you see are the shared ones.
Working alone, you see no avatars. They appear as soon as a second person joins the budget.
