Open the Insert tab in the sidebar, then drag General Cost Item or Production Cost Item onto a Section in your budget. There is no add-Cost-Item button. Dragging is the only way, and every Cost Item has to land inside a Section.
Steps
Do the following:
In the sidebar, open the Insert tab and stay on the Cost Items sub-tab. The hint above
the cards reads Drag and drop Cost Items into your Budget.
Pick the card you want. General Cost Item gives you
Cost Item including fields for Amount, Days, and Fee. Production Cost Item gives you
Calculate Prep, Shoot, and Wrap days separately.Drag the card over your budget. Blue indicator lines show every position it can legally land in.
The line you are hovering shows at full strength, the others stay faint.Drop it. Dropping on a Section's header row puts the Cost Item first inside that Section.
Dropping on the row at the bottom of the Section that repeats its total puts it last. The new row's Name field is already focused, so you can type the name immediately.
Good to know
A Cost Item cannot sit at the top level of a budget. It must be inside a Section. If you have no Sections yet, add one first.
A Cost Item cannot be placed directly above a Section. Inside any one Section, sub-Sections come first and Cost Items come after them. Splinde makes sure that this will not be mixed.
You cannot drop into a collapsed Section. Expand it with the chevron on its header first.
Choose the right card the first time. A Cost Item's type is fixed when you create it and cannot be changed afterwards.
The cards refuse to start a drag while another structural change is still saving. If a card will not pick up, wait a second and try again.
The
+button in the Sections tab does not add Cost Items. It only ever creates a top-level Section.
