An AddOn is a calculated uplift you drag onto a single Cost Item, adding a percentage or an overtime charge on top of that line's own amount. It appears as a coloured strip under the Cost Item and its result folds automatically into that line's total, the Section subtotal, and the budget Total.
What it's for
Production fees rarely stop at the day rate. Employer social contributions, artist fund levies, VAT and overtime all sit on top of a base fee and need to be calculated, not typed in by hand. An AddOn does that calculation for you and keeps it live as the underlying fee changes.
How it works
There are two AddOn types in Splinde: a percentage style and an overtime style. Everything you drag onto a Cost Item is one of those two, prepared as a template with a name, a default rate, and sometimes a linked Variable.
Splinde ships a growing set of prepared templates for this, tagged by country and named in that country's own language. Today's set includes AddOns from Germany, US, Switzerland and Chile. More country-specific templates are on the way, so treat any list, including this one, as examples rather than a catalogue.

Taxes
To add one, open the sidebar Insert tab, AddOns sub-tab, and drag a card onto a Cost Item. Expand the strip to see and edit its rate. A percentage AddOn applies its rate to the Cost Item's own base amount by default.
The order the AddOns are stacked in has no effect on the maths, only on how they are displayed.

How it fits with the rest of Splinde
Every AddOn's result rolls automatically into its Cost Item's total, the Section it sits in, and the budget Total, with no extra step. The Smart Subtotals AddOns block shows what each AddOn template is contributing across the whole budget. In an Offer Document, the Disclose AddOn setting on a table controls whether an AddOn's amount stays folded into the line total or is shown as its own row or column.
